French luxury fashion house has focused on craftsmanship for over 160 years, and this collection is no different with their passion in and for leather always being their winning-card season after season.
The concept of a stationary journey is the inspiration behind Louis Vuitton’s womenswear Cruise 2021 collection; a step back in time by NICOLAS Ghesquière. Inspired by march of 2020 when our lifestyle and society paused due to the global pandemic which affected us all. The creative Director took a look inside rather than outside
The collection is personal to Ghesquière, it reflects his time as a designer, digging deep in his past, present and different possibility of his possibilities. “I looked somewhere that has been calling out to me for a long time, somewhere I hadn’t taken the time to go back to. To uncover one inspiration after another,” explains the designer, “This is an exploration of my creative identity.”

The collection is titled “Game On”, illustrating how fashion is a game changer and designers are players in every season, starting with a black canvas and using their creative freedom to maximum. The cruise collection describes the clubs as blooms, spades as pierces, diamonds that sparkle and the heart which reigns which collectively play against the Monogram flowers.
The cuts are recognisable in the collection and colours are muted, with effortless style emitting throughout. The collection is more about pieces that are staple and can be worn throughout the year rather than the typical Ghesquière, which has bold prints and metallic and is seen in his main season.
The collection was photographed at the Creative Director’s personal studio in Pont-Neuf in Paris, however the surroundings are not directly correlated with the capital. The aim was to that this collection can be worn anywhere, and at any time, regardless of the occasion.
